Xiaomi Launches SkyNomad Extended-Range SUV Family in China with Aggressive Pricing

Xiaomi confirmed four SkyNomad models at its autumn launch event. The N70 Pro rear-drive five-seater starts at RMB 209,900, followed by the all-wheel-drive N70 Max at RMB 239,900. The seven-seat N90 Max commands RMB 269,900, while the N90 Max Studio with pop-up camping roof reaches RMB 299,900. All four models position themselves significantly below established extended-range competitors from Li Auto and AITO, which begin above RMB 250,000.

Each model employs extended-range (EREV) technology, pairing rechargeable battery packs with a gasoline engine that generates electricity without directly powering the wheels. The electric powertrain operates independently on battery power for most journeys. The base N70 Pro features a 52 kWh LFP battery, delivering 351 kilometres of pure-electric range and 1,351 kilometres combined. Xiaomi claims 20-80% charging takes as little as 18 minutes.

The N70 Max adds all-wheel drive and achieves 0-100 km/h in 5.5 seconds using a 76 kWh battery, providing 505 kilometres electric range and 1,461 kilometres combined. The seven-seat N90 Max reaches 1,705 kilometres total range—sufficient, Xiaomi claims, for the Shanghai-to-Beijing journey exceeding 1,000 kilometres without stopping.

The standout N90 Max Studio at RMB 299,900 incorporates a factory-integrated electric pop-up roof rising 100 millimetres to reveal a two-level loft with 1.8 metres of headroom. The second row converts to a 1.87-metre bed in 30 seconds, featuring heated flooring with three temperature settings and an integrated 30-inch projector screen. The platform itself delivers a flat floor and sliding rails across the lineup, with NVIDIA Thor autonomous-driving capabilities, LiDAR, and radar standard.
